Pool Gate

Dear Milwaukee Ridge Residents:

We understand and agree with the idea of having two locks on the gate to the swimming pool, and we have finally received approval from the park’s insurance provider.  While that is great news, we face another hurdle with actually installing the equipment needed to accomplish the dual-lock gate.  The existing gate will have to be replaced with a solid gate that cannot be reached through and unlocked, and the estimate to replace the gate was $3250.  Currently, the HOA does not have the financial ability to pay for the new swimming pool gate, but as soon as it does – we will have it installed.  Please contact us with any future ideas!

Originally I had posted a comment that, after visiting the pool and seeing the actual situation, I realizeed did not make much sense. $3250 still seems a little high. It seems like you could buy a proximity card lock system for less than that and just give everyone a key. That would also solve any problems with key replication. Might look into this.

I agree, some unique system like key cards, combinations, or codes.

speaking of the pool, i have seen people there just about everyday. was i mistaken? is the pool still open? we are very new here and still trying to get into the swing of things. if it is closed, shouldn't it remained locked during the day?

Good question. I have seen kids jump the fence in the past. If anyone sees kids over there when the pool is supposed to be closed they need to ask them to leave and inform them that they are not supposed to be there when it is closed because it is not safe. People do not frequent the pool when it is closed and if someone were to get hurt in there while it was supposed to be locked up, they may not get the help they need in the time they need it. Our HOA dues pay for insurance on that pool and if there is an accident there we all pay for it. Responsible parents need to inform their kids of this and tell them not to jump the fence.
